biography
1974
I was born 1974 in Mülheim/Ruhr (germany) as the son of two musicians. I grew up near the small town Hameln outside the city in a beautyful landscape with animals and nature around. Later this has always been a strong influence to me and my work.
1984
In the age of ten I began to study the drum set, continued learning for eight years and played in different pop and rock projects and for a long time in a classical drum ensemble.
1988
In the age of fourteen I started to explore the world of electronic sounds with an Yamaha DX 11 synthesizer, an effect processor (Hohner RDM 1000), a drum computer (RX-17), a four track recorder of Gerd, my father, one microphone and later an Atari 520 ST. Over the years I bought my own equipment and it got more and more. Parallel to the drumming, I integrated the electronic music into the sound of my band one step divine. It was a very intensive style of guitar based music. Influences were the bands Neurosis, God Machine and Kong. The band were active between 1990 and 1998. In the last years of existance, we needed no words between us. Music was our language. Tom, my former (and still my favorite) bass-man is now playing with the band veagaz. (www.veagaz.com)
1997
Through new musical interests and a psychic crisis in 1997 some changes took part in my personal and musical life. I sold lots of equipment to force myself to create a more personal, deeper and more "handmade" style of electronic music, different from the stuff I had done before. The birth of xabec. More and more the new style lost the usual song- and soundstructures. The first tape "Klänge [M]einer Zeit" (´98, lim.100, selfreleased) got very positive reactions in the european underground scene. For later releases have a look at the media section.
2001
In 2001 I finished an education in music therapy. A new way of exploring sounds and music in another, a different context. I am working with children, handicapped people and giving workshops.
